B/W Film Developer

There are lots of formulas for B/W films, for fine grain, contrast, gradation and specification of some films.

Some photographers mix their own developer according to these formulas. Unfortunately, the chemicals might not be in high purity. In general, an industrial standard is about 80%. It is well known that Kodak's standard is 90% and up. Of course, we can get the supply of chemicals from Kodak, but he minimum quantity exceeds personal consumption and suitable for industrial or commercial use. With lower purity chemicals, personal mixed developers may lack of the expected quality and worst of all, a very short shelf life that it becomes costly instead.

Some of Kodak B/W Film Developers are D76, MICRODOL-X, HC110, T-MAX, XTOL.

XTOL is an ascorbic acid based developer, two part powder package, easy to mix, stable performance, good keeping properties, self replenish.

T-MAX is basically for T-MAX films, and can be used for most other B/W film, concentrated liquid developer, fine grain, excellent shadow details for normal and push processing.

HC110 is a highly concentrated developer, for rapid processing with graphic and most B/W films

D76 is a general powder developer for years, good contrast and shadow details.

MICRODOL-X is a low fog developer for VERICHROME PAN, PLUS-X PAN, TRI-X PAN and T-MAX films with super fine grain.
